Jill Courtney is a music business professional who was raised in Manitou Springs, CO. In the industry since the age of 6, and as a touring performer since the age of 8, she views the industry from the inside out, having a deep appreciation and understanding for those on stage and behind the scenes. She does both, teaches both and has strongly led many a company - both her own and others. This site is a dedicated portfolio of professional and personal work, and includes her writing, video work, audio work, entrepreneurial ventures, photography, educational endeavors and more. An artist in her own right, she aims to make the world a better and kinder place by achieving great things, helping others achieve their own dreams, and leaving a legacy of creative work in her tracks.

 

She is a marketer, an educator, a leader, and an artist. As an active Audiovisual Multimedia Producer (audio, video, photography, multimedia, social media, and web), Jill originated and co-owned a business called Sharkbait Studios between 2002-2012, which operated as a studio-based and on-location audio and video production company in New York City, Nashville, and Texas. She was also the Studio/Business Manager for Quad Studios Nashville, on Music Row in Nashville, TN. She served as the lead Sound for Film instructor for Nashville Film Institute, the acting teacher at Knowledge Academies, the Acting and Creative Writing teacher for Antioch Middle School, and the Advanced Theatre and College/Career Readiness (CTE) teacher at Antioch High School. She currently teaches private voice/acting, produces audio/video/social media content, does project management and instructional design creation, conversion, strategies, and data analysis through her umbrella company JCreative Multimedia.

A passionate higher education instructor and instructional designer, she has taught for
Belmont University, Tennessee State University, The Art Institute of Tennessee-NashvilleJohn Robert Powers-Nashville, Nashville Film Institute (where she designed their new Acting for Camera program/curriculum and aided in securing accreditation), Metro Nashville Public Schools, VIPKid, as a commercial and classical voice instructor, a director of ensembles, and a songwriting, music theory, music business, piano, acting, commercial voice, creative writing, ESL, entrepreneurship and audio recording instructor.

 

Jill was also the Coordinator of Commercial Music and Voice at Lamar State College, and a Multimedia Instructional Designer for the United States Space Force's 319th Combat Training Squadron through the Department of Defense.

 

Jill sings, plays piano, guitar, trumpet, and tambourine. She was a featured vocalist with Wah Watusi, a funk, soul, and blues band, The Network All-Star Band, a classic rock band comprised of Nashville audio engineers, and Your Crazy Neighbors, a corporate/party cover band in Nashville, TN. She was a certified broadcast producer at Nashville Education, Community, and Arts Television (NECAT), a local broadcast television station, and an active member of Women In Film & Television - Nashville (WIFT), ASCAP, NSAI, and Audio Engineering Society-Nashville (AES), an organization for which she served on the executive leadership committee for many years. She sings with Friends of the Riders and Moonmach Inbound in the Colorado Springs, CO area.

 

Jill earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, a professional performance degree in Musical Theatre Performance from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA-NY), her Master of Music degree in Music Technology from New York University, and her Ed.S. degree in Educational Leadership from Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. She is currently working on her Doctorate of Professional Studies via Franklin University in Instructional Design Leadership, and serves as Sr. Space Operations ISD Curriculum Designer/Trainer/Digital Media Specialist (Sr. Principal Systems Engineer) for Northrop Grumman. She also serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs' Strategic Artificial Intelligence program.

She has her Professional Teaching and ILL-B Administrator's licenses through the State of TN, and is additionally certified in Agile Project Management, Strategic Artificial Intelligence, Prompt Engineering, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Human Rights Consulting, and Cybersecurity Basics.
